Job summary

Westtown School, located in West Chester, PA, is seeking a Part-Time Overnight Security Officer to cover 10:00 PM–6:00 AM shifts on Fridays and Saturdays with possible additional shifts. The role focuses on campus safety through patrols and camera surveillance, ensuring a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include regular rounds, incident reporting, coordination with local authorities as needed, first aid support, and logkeeping.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required or equivalent; some college is preferred
• Current CPR/AED certification required
• EMT certification is desired but not required
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history
• Prior security or related experience is preferred
• Must be well-organized and able to prioritize work
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
• Able to work independently without close supervision
• Calm under pressure and able to respond to a variety of situations

• Required clearances, including PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Certification, and FBI fingerprints.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of the school community, buildings and campus
• Provide on-campus security through regular rounds and camera surveillance
• Be available during inclement weather and school-closing situations
• Patrol property and grounds on foot or in a golf cart
• Monitor surveillance camera system
• Investigate and report unsafe conditions and suspicious activity
• Develop and maintain positive relations with students, parents, faculty, staff and visitors
• Respond promptly to alarms and calls for assistance
• Provide basic first aid and medical attention as appropriate
• Complete a log of daily activities and pass-on information to relief personnel
• Notify police, fire department and appropriate school officials of urgent situations
• Participate in departmental meetings and required training
• Other duties as assigned
