Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL is seeking a part-time Surgical Instrument Tech to prepare the operating room, sterilize instruments, and assist the surgical team during procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.

Responsibilities include setting up sterile rooms, passing instruments, sutures, and meds, maintaining sterile technique, and post-operative cleaning. CST certification preferred; prior OR experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary certificate or associate degree in surgical technology.
• Hands-on clinical rotations or internships essential.
• Experience in a surgical environment through internships, externships, or entry-level roles.
• CST certification through the NBSTSA.
• Licensure may be required by certain states or employers.
• TS-C credential offered by NCCT as optional.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Thorough knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and medical terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile field.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing situations during surgery.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up sterile operating rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Sterilize surgical instruments and ensure proper functionality.
• Assist with patient preparation by draping and positioning.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and accurately pass instruments, sutures, and medications during surgery.
• Hold retractors, suctioning, sponging, and applying electrocautery as directed.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout the procedure.
• Handling and preparing tissue specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Perform post-operative cleaning and instrument reprocessing.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
