Job summary

Oxford Public Schools in Oxford, MA is seeking a Day-to-Day Substitute On-Call Teacher for PreK-12 to join our substitute pool. The role requires a minimum commitment of 15–20 days per school year to remain on the Sub List and reports to the Building Principal.

You will provide meaningful instruction and classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher, following scheduled lesson plans and maintaining a productive learning environment for students.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or a minimum of two years of college coursework required.
• Knowledge of the subject(s) or age group being taught and the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.
• Skill-based competencies include attention to detail and accuracy; exercise of judgment in carrying out tasks with minimal guidance and direction; operating a computer; Microsoft and Google applications; and familiarity with educational software.
• Ability-based competencies include communicating effectively; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the Classroom Teacher.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans assigned.
• Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Records attendance in accordance with school procedures; ensures students are always attended to and not left without supervision.
• May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as hall monitoring.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
