Job summary

UF Health is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide skilled therapy under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You will deliver direct patient care, educate patients and caregivers, and prepare patients for discharge according to the treatment plan.

You will participate in assessments, document patient responses, and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care and achievement of therapy goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AOTA accredited COTA program required.
• 0–1 year experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the evaluation process by implementing delegated assessments and providing verbal and written reports to the supervising therapist.
• Observe, record, and report patient response to treatment and changes in condition to the healthcare team.
• Educate and document in patient records with instructions to patients, caregivers, and family.
• Submit accurate and timely documentation per department policies.
• Treat to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and maintain maximum performance under supervision.
• Promote coordination of care through interdisciplinary communication.
• Instruct patient and caregivers in the exercise program developed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Uphold high ethical standards in interactions with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Meet productivity standards established by the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management within job scope.
