Job description

Part-Time Nursing Faculty

Curry College has ongoing needs for part-time faculty to teach in our nursing programs. We have a variety of track options at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Part-time faculty are responsible for planning and presenting the material assigned for their courses and/or clinics/labs/simulations; defining specific requirements and communicating them to students; evaluating clinical performance, examinations and/or assignments; submitting grades promptly; and providing students with clear explanations of their evaluations. Part-time faculty are expected to be available to interact electronically with students outside the classroom.

Courses available may include didactic, clinical, lab, or simulation. The days and hours vary depending upon the course. There is often a need for faculty to instruct the clinical portion of our nursing courses.

Job Requirements

For classroom teaching, a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is required. Prior teaching experience preferred.

For clinical, lab, and simulation-based instruction, the requirements are 2 years of full-time nursing experience within the last 5 years and either an MSN degree or:

  • hold a BSN and be matriculated in a graduate nursing program with an expected graduation date within five years of the appointment;
  • or possess a related non-nursing graduate degree;
  • or possess a current nurse education certification by a board-recognized certifying organization.

In certain cases, candidates holding a BSN and possessing five years of full-time nursing experience within the past eight years may be considered but must be matriculated in a graduate nursing program within one year of appointment with an expected graduation date within five years of the date of matriculation or achieve nurse education certification by a board-recognized certifying organization within three years of appointment.
