Job summary

Excelsior University is seeking part-time clinical instructors to report to the Department Chair and coordinate with instructional faculty for course content. You will train, supervise, and evaluate nursing students during clinical experiences, providing timely feedback and ensuring access to resources that support student success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing required; or BSN with active enrollment in a master's/doctoral program in Nursing.
• Active, unencumbered NYS RN license.
• Minimum of 5 years RN experience in varied clinical areas.
• Current clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Experience supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with educational technology including video conferencing.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete institution-sponsored training program.
• Adhere to policies in the Clinical Faculty Handbook.
• Work 2 non-consecutive weekends per 8-week term (Fri 6 hours; Sat/Sun 12 hours).
• Remain present for the entire clinical day and hours.
• Plan and coordinate patient assignments for students.
• Demonstrate nursing skills and related technology.
• Complete required training for assigned units.
• Participate in pre- and post-clinical activities in Canvas LMS.
• Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students.
• Provide evidence-based professional examples to students.
• Provide individualized feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
• Complete clinical evaluation rubrics for each student timely.
