Job summary

YMCA of Greater Nashua is seeking a part-time Staff Accountant to support daily accounting tasks and monthly reporting in a nonprofit environment. The role reports to the Director of Finance and involves journal entries, reconciliations, budget analysis, and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Nonprofit experience or grant accounting familiarity is a plus.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post accurate journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Review general ledger accounts for variances and required adjustments.
• Support budget-to-actual analysis and department coding corrections.
• Assist with fixed asset management, reconciliations and reporting.
• Support grant accounting and related financial reporting as applicable.
• Assist with audit preparation by providing schedules and documentation.
• Maintain organized financial records in accordance with GAAP and controls.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Ensure timely and accurate accounting transactions; provide departmental support.
