Job summary

YMCA of the North Shore invites applications for a Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team in Beverly, MA. This entry-level role supports daily accounting operations, with opportunities to learn budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closing.

You will process transactions, maintain ledgers, and help ensure accurate financial reporting while contributing to a community-centric mission. Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred; internship or coursework encouraged.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SAP, Intuit, or similar financial systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process daily accounting transactions, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure transactions are properly coded and documented.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures by preparing schedules and reconciliations.
• Support annual budgeting and updates to rolling 12-month forecasts.
• Collaborate with Finance team and branch staff to resolve accounting questions.
