Job summary

Advocate Health Care seeks a part-time Telemetry/EKG Monitor Technician to continuously monitor and interpret patient EKGs on telemetry. Responsibilities include admitting/discharging patients from central monitoring, alerting staff to rhythms, and maintaining logs.

The role supports ED staff and patient safety, with flexible scheduling (7p-7a, 2–12 hour shifts per week). Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and basic EKG knowledge; prior arrhythmia

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret basic EKG rhythm.
• 12 months of arrhythmia interpretation (preferred).
• CPR Certification
• Successful completion of Basic EKG exam within the first 12 weeks of employment in the role.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor and interpret EKGs of patients on telemetry.
• Admit and discharge patients from central monitoring.
• Interpret and alert team members of EKG rhythms.
• Notify staff for lead changes and proper lead placement to ensure optimal QRS configuration on the telemetry monitor
• Maintain communication logs.
• Report rhythm changes to appropriate staff.
• Consult ED nurse for complex arrhythmia analysis and interpretations.
• Provide documentation for the medical record of the patient’s baseline and rhythm changes.
• Document EKG strips from monitors during routine and emergency interventions.
• Promote patient safety by reporting issues through established channels.
• Support patient care tasks such as transporting specimens or other needs.
