Job summary

UPMC West Shore is seeking a Patient Care Technician – Specialist for the Emergency Department. This part-time, night-shift role (7pm–7am) includes every 3rd weekend and every other holiday, with duties spanning ADLs, specimen collection, and vital signs under RN direction.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of healthcare experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture and strong communication skills to support patients and families in a fast-paced ED environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years healthcare experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture.
• 1 year experience + enrollment in PT/OT/PA/RN program or related training with at least one clinical rotation.
• 1 year experience + completion of health sciences bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care and assist with ADLs and procedures.
• Document in medical records and report changes to RN.
• Assist with measurements, specimen collection, and basic treatments as directed.
• Respond to call lights and support unit activities and safety policies.
