Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks a Part-Time Emergency Department Patient Care Technician. You will provide direct patient care under nursing supervision, monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, collect specimens, and support safety-focused patient care in a fast-paced ED setting.

Requirements include high school diploma, Maryland CNA/GNA certification, and BLS. Prior ED experience is preferred and the role involves night shifts and on-site work at the hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland state certification as a CNA or GNA required.
• Current BLS certification required through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• One year of ED Patient Care Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nursing supervision and take vital signs.
• Assist with ADLs and daily living activities.
• Perform blood draws and collect specimens as directed.
• Document patient data and communicate changes to the care team.
• Assist in admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Promote patient safety and fall prevention; maintain clean, safe environment.
• Support wound care, IV care, and basic dressings as delegated.
• Participate in patient rounding and respond to alarms and requests.
