Job Description
The Part-time Night Auditor at Courtyard Newport News is responsible for the preparation and disposition of all Night Audit work. Responsible for the front desk operation during the overnight shift, two to three days per week (Typically 11pm-7am).
Essential Functions
- Registering guests, making reservations, preparing daily reports, balancing transactions, and conducting security walks.
- Initiating and completing the End of Day process.
- Completing the Night Audit checklist for computer procedures daily.
- Balancing the day's work (e.g., revenue, telephone postings, laundry, paperwork).
- Preparing and distributing the Daily Flash Report as needed.
- Transferring master or house accounts as necessary.
- Running morning reports following procedures.
- Completing reports requested by management promptly.
- Providing courteous and efficient service to guests, maximizing revenue and occupancy.
- Maintaining the telephone switchboard operation.
- Answering guest inquiries about services and facilities.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and other departments.
- Assisting with breakfast setup at select hotels.
- Responding to guest requests professionally.
- Maintaining confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
- Documenting guest requests or complaints and following up for resolution.
- Being aware of rates, packages, and promotions.
- Familiarity with in-house groups and high-demand dates.
- Taking reservations and following rate scenarios.
- Knowing the front desk computer system.
- Handling packages, mail, and messages.
- Knowing hotel amenities, events, and local attractions.
- Completing check-in/check-out accurately.
- Using brand standards to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Restocking front desk supplies as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
- Problem-solving skills for customer interactions.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to obtain alcohol awareness certification.
- Willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in Windows OS, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Clear communication of ideas and information.
- Desire to serve guests.
- Legal age to serve alcohol (at select properties).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or related fields.
- Knowledge of and experience with brand standards.
