Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Part-Time Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician for the Neuro Trauma unit (8G). The role involves delivering routine patient care under RN supervision, with rotating day/evening/night shifts and a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Rotating shifts including day/evening/night, weekends and holidays.
• 12‑hour shifts with some 8‑hour and 12‑hour blocks; minimum 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Deliver routine patient care and support services per policies.
• Under RN/physician direction, ensure high‑quality patient care.
• Assist with ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning, repositioning, blood glucose monitoring).
• Take vital signs, perform simple dressings, 12‑lead EKGs, bladder scans, collect specimens.
• Report equipment malfunctions and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Ensure patient and workplace safety, maintain professionalism and relations.
• Provide patient care, support therapies, and assist with instruction under RN guidance.
• Adhere to policies, safety standards and document patient information appropriately.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner, including clerical functions as needed.
