Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian/9N is seeking a Full-Time Patient Care Technician to support the Ortho Trauma unit with hands‑on patient care. The role involves nursing‑level tasks under RN guidance, including vital signs, simple dressings, and ADL assistance, with a focus on safety and quality care for surgical orthopedic and urology patients.

Shifts are 12-hour with a mix of 8- and 12-hour schedules and a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering routine patient care in a clinical setting.
• Ability to assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Capable of taking vitals and communicating changes to nurses.
• Collaborates effectively with nursing staff and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Deliver routine patient care and support services per policies.
• Under supervision, maintain high-quality patient care at all times.
• Assist with ADLs such as bathing, feeding, transporting and toileting.
• Take vital signs, perform simple dressings, EKGs, bladder scans, and collect specimens.
• Report equipment issues and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Ensure safety and professionalism, maintain patient records accurately.
• Provide care, support therapies, and assist with RN-guided instructions.
• Adhere to safety standards and document patient information.
• Complete tasks promptly, including clerical duties as needed.
