Job summary

The New York City Police Department, Information Technology Services Division, seeks a permanent Computer Associate (Operations) to manage and support enterprise network infrastructure in a large police environment. Qualifications

• Certificate from an accredited technical school (675 hours) with 2 years of computer operations experience in a large networked environment.
• Baccalaureate degree and 3 years of satisfactory full-time related experience.
• High school diploma and 4 years of satisfactory full-time related experience.
• A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above with at least 2 years in the described area.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, monitor, install and configure Cisco Cat9404, Cat9300 switches, Cisco NCS 5504 and 5508 routers within the enterprise.
• Service the troubleshooting and maintenance of NYPD network LAN infrastructure including switches, local site firewalls, network racks and physical cabling.
• Schedule production changes and assist in the solution of operational and scheduling problems.
• Responsible for the processing and replacement of faulty production network equipment.
• Establishes and ensures adherence to uniform performance standards and efficient methods of work.
• Be responsible for the dealing with the building and upgrade of systems in a complex computer environment which includes a large communications network.

Education

Certificate from accredited technical school (675 hours) in computer operations with 2 years of related experience

Baccalaureate degree with 3 years of related experience

High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related experience

Combination of education/experience equivalent to 1-3 with at least 2 years in described roles
