Des Moines Art Center is seeking a Security Officer I to safeguard assets and visitors while delivering excellent customer service in a dynamic museum setting. The ideal candidate remains calm in evolving situations, works well with others, and helps create a welcoming, safe experience for all who enter the Art Center.

This part-time role typically schedules 25–27 hours per week, often including Saturdays and Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Protect assets, personnel and visitors.
• Provide security for galleries, public spaces, studios, meeting rooms, offices and storage areas.
• Observe galleries for condition changes and report issues promptly.
• Respond to emergencies, administer first aid and record incidents.
• Inform visitors of rules and assist with information about programs.
• Attend meetings and training to stay current on policies.
