Job summary

The Studio Museum in Harlem seeks a part-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to support building operations at the museum and executive offices in New York. You will perform daily maintenance, repairs across trades, and assist with safety and cleaning initiatives to preserve the facility.

Ideal candidates bring museum or office-building maintenance experience, a bilingual English/Spanish ability, a NY driver’s license, and OSHA training, with proficiency in using basic floor-care equipment

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a museum or similar setting.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• NY State Driver’s License.
• 30-hour OSHA Training.
• Proficiency with floor-care and basic building systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled repairs across trades (electrical, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting).
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of the museum interior and offices.
• Ensure OSHA-compliant cleaning and safety practices.
• Assist in coordinating cleaning projects and waste management.
• Operate floor-maintenance equipment and basic tools.
• Collaborate with Building Operations and Security staff to support visitor experience.
