Job summary

The New Museum is seeking a Maintainer for the 2nd shift in New York, NY. You will perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the Museum’s facilities, grounds, and related systems, while coordinating with vendors and the Chief Engineer.

The role requires at least five years of custodial or maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and ability to work weekends and evenings, with 8-hour shifts 1pm–midnight and schedule adjustments for events.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years custodial or maintainer experience.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
• Hands-on approach and strong technical aptitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning and maintenance of museum facilities and grounds.
• Assist with supervision of outside contractors, vendors, and service providers; coordinate with Chief Engineer.
• Oversee and assist outside vendors for special events.
• Special event setup and breakdown.
• Snow removal and routine maintenance tasks.
• Assist with package receiving and delivery.
• Flexible scheduling to accommodate events and staff coverage.
