Job summary

Montessori International Children’s House in Annapolis, MD seeks an Extended Day Assistant to support the program for ages 3-12. This part-time role (about 10–15 hours/week) focuses on nap times, supervision, and enriching activities in a Montessori environment.

Qualifications

• Montessori pedagogy knowledge preferred.
• Minimum of one-year teaching or childcare experience with preschool and elementary-aged children.

Responsibilities

• Set up and supervise nap for toddler and primary children.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor recess for ages 3-12.
• Assist in planning and organizing exceptional, enriching extended day lessons and activities for children ages 3-12.

• Work within the schedule to ensure smooth and effective transitions between program activities.
• Daily room set-up and break-down, including moving materials, supplies, and equipment, and setting up classrooms.
• Provide classroom coverage due to absences as needed.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Extended Day Director, the Extended Day Assistant will work with the Extended Day team to support the on-the-ground planning and implementation of the Extended Day Program. This position is a part-time position, requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and supervise nap for toddler and primary children.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor recess for ages 3-12.
• Assist in planning and organizing exceptional, enriching extended day lessons and activities for children ages 3-12.
• Work collaboratively with the team to implement program activities

• Prior work experience in a school or childcare setting preferred.,
