Job Title: Montessori Primary Assistant Teacher (Ages 3–6)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, nurturing, and detail-oriented Assistant Teacher to support our
Montessori Primary classroom (Children's House, ages 3–6). Working closely with the Lead
Montessori Guide, you will help maintain a calm, orderly, and joyful environment that fosters
independence, concentration, and respect.
Schedule & Hours
Arrival Time: 7:45 AM (classroom prep and morning greeting duty)
Departure Time: 4:30 PM (afternoon dismissal and room reset)
Hours: 40 hours per week (includes daily scheduled lunch/break)
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support & Environment Maintenance
- Protect the children's work cycle by minimizing disruptions, redirecting wandering
- students gently, and modeling grace and courtesy.
- Prepare, clean, and replenish materials, practical life supplies, art shelves, and snack
- stations daily.
- Assist in maintaining the Montessori aesthetic: neat, orderly, beautiful, and accessible to
- the child.
- Supervise independent transitions, including handwashing, bathroom routines, coat
- changing, and meal setups.
Supervision & Daily Care
- Actively supervise children during outdoor recess/playground time, naptime, lunch, and
- arrival/dismissal.
- Manage minor toileting accidents calmly and discreetly, encouraging self-sufficiency.
- Maintain visual awareness and uphold child safety protocols at all times.
Collaboration & Communication
- Take direction from the Lead Guide to support specific academic or behavioral goals for
- individual students.
- Observe child behaviors quietly and share relevant insights or concerns directly with the
- Lead Guide.
- Assist with end-of-day sanitization and safety checks according to school and state
- licensing standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood
- Education (ECE) preferred.
- Previous experience working in a preschool, childcare center, or Montessori setting is
- highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy is a strong plus (training will be provided for
- candidates eager to learn).
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, fingerprinting, and state-mandated
- health screenings (e.g., TB test).
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Warm, calm demeanor, strong communication skills, and the physical stamina to squat,
- bend, sit on the floor, and lift up to 35 lbs.
