Job summary

Whitney Museum of American Art is seeking friendly, sales‑oriented Visitor and Member Assistants to join the Visitor and Member Experience team in the Whitney lobby and Information Office. You will promote memberships, process admissions, and provide top‑notch service to visitors and members in a fast-paced, public setting.

The role emphasizes selling benefits of Whitney membership, meeting revenue goals, and representing the Museum with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of sales and customer service in a public-facing environment.
• Friendly, outgoing, and professional attitude.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Pitch membership to visitors in multiple Museum spaces and in the Whitney Information Office.
• Meet sales goals by acquiring new members.
• Serve as first contact for members and visitors in person, by phone, or email.
• Provide excellent customer service to members, prospects, and visitors following department guidelines.
• Promote offerings like Whitney Shop and Whitney Membership.
• Observe cash handling policies and procedures.
• Utilize POS, membership software, and CRM tools.
• Resolve customer service requests efficiently.
• Assist during membership events.
