Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant in a Cleveland Internal Medicine department. Work Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 11:30 am, 25 hours per week. The role requires a high school diploma or GED with lab testing experience and may include phlebotomy-related clinical training.

The compensation includes a pay range of $19.80 to $29.70 per hour and benefits eligibility. This position emphasizes specimen handling, test performance, and quality controls within a busy clinical

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with experience performing moderately complex laboratory testing required.
• Performing complete blood counts and clinical training in phlebotomy, medical office assisting, nursing and radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses urgency of a test and prioritizes tasks accordingly.
• Prepares specimens for testing; verifies patient identification and requisitions; arranges recollection if needed.
• Maintains equipment and instruments; documents quality controls; performs minor troubleshooting; keeps work area clean.
• Prepares reagents required for test performance.
• Calculates, reports, and records test results; analyses results for critical values and reports promptly.
• Oversees/participates in Quality Assessment activities and documents problem recognition and resolution.
