Job summary

Grand Haven Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician to support the laboratory on a casual, as-needed basis with rotating shifts at our Michigan facility as part of Trinity Health. This role requires punctuality, accuracy, and adherence to policy.

The MLT will collect specimens, ensure proper identification, perform analytical tests on blood, urine and body fluids, and evaluate results in context of clinical conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related discipline required.
• Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required.
• Continuation of employment is contingent on passing of ASCP or equivalent within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect appropriate specimen samples as required.
• Ensure specimen identification is accurate when aliquoting specimens and resulting tests.
• Demonstrates competency in performance of analytical laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids or specimens according to laboratory policy.
• Evaluates test results in light of the patient’s clinical condition and analytical testing conditions according to laboratory policy.
