Job summary

Trinity Health's Grand Haven Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform analyses on blood, urine, stool, and body fluids, ensuring quality and accuracy of laboratory testing in line with policy.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in MLT or related field, ASCP or equivalent certification within 18 months of hire, and strong English communication. Evening shift, full-time with potential for other statuses.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related discipline required.
• Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required.
• Continuation of employment is contingent on passing of ASCP or equivalent within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to read, speak and write English effectively.

Responsibilities

• Collect appropriate specimen samples as required.
• Ensure specimen identification is accurate when aliquoting specimens and resulting tests.
• Demonstrates competency in performance of analytical laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids or specimens according to laboratory policy.
• Evaluates test results in light of the patient’s clinical condition and analytical testing conditions according to laboratory policy.

Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs analysis of blood, urine, stool, and body fluids. They are responsible for evaluating reports based on the clinical and analytical conditions and also responsible for maintaining the quality of the Laboratory testing.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related discipline required. Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required. Continuation of employment is contingent on passing of ASCP or equivalent within 18 months of hire.

• Ability to read, speak and write English effectively.

Related Experience

Preferred:

• At least one year experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician with above average performance.
