Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Assistant on a part-time, contingent basis at the Main Campus in Columbus, OH. The role supports clerical, registration, and patient care tasks while ensuring specimen preparation, accessioning, and processing are completed efficiently.

The position may involve venipuncture and other specimen collections along with waived lab testing, documentation, quality control, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of clinical laboratory/medical experience and office experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred for Offsite Lab sections.

Responsibilities

• Completes technical tasks such as specimen accessioning, preparation, processing, delivery and storage.
• Performs clerical tasks and specimen accessioning in accordance with testing protocols.
• Maintains laboratory operations by performing equipment maintenance, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
• Performs waived laboratory testing, documents patient reports, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Upholds applicable laws and regulations related to the position and laboratory operations.
