Job summary

Unity Healthcare seeks a part-time Medical Assistant in Lafayette, IN. You’ll support clinicians by reviewing patient history, taking vitals, preparing for exams, and handling scheduling and EMR documentation.

Requirements include CMA or RMA preferred, strong communication, attention to detail, and experience in a medical office with Allscripts PM/EMR knowledge. Flexible 1–2 days per week; includes vacation coverage.

Qualifications

• CMA or RMA preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and excellent multi-tasking.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Allscripts PM/EMR knowledge preferred.
• Surgical scheduling experience preferred.
• Part Time.
• Flexible schedule, with a minimum commitment of 1-2 days per week.
• Includes coverage for vacations and unforeseen absences.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients by reviewing patient medical history and taking vitals
• Completes prior authorizations for medications and radiological testing
• Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician and Nurse Practitioner
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Document patient information utilizing electronic medical records
• Assists in scheduling patient appointments and surgical scheduling
• Follow the guidelines of HIPAA in maintaining patient confidentiality
• Perform additional administrative duties and projects as needed
