Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in New Albany, OH, seeks an experienced Mechanical Commissioning and Startup Engineer to lead commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of complex mechanical systems in a semiconductor facility.

The role provides technical leadership, interfaces with Engineering, Construction, and Operations, and requires strong problem-solving, communication, and team leadership in a multidisciplinary startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (Mechanical/Chemical/Marine or related) and 8–14 years of relevant experience in mission critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical commissioning and startup principles.
• Ability to read P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment drawings, specifications, and control documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage commissioning plans, procedures, check sheets, startup sequences, and turnover requirements.
• Review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, specifications, control narratives, and vendor docs for commissioning readiness.
• Lead system walkdowns, punch list development, deficiency tracking, and readiness assessments.
• Lead commissioning and startup activities for HVAC, cleanroom air handling, and related utility systems.
• Direct field execution of pre-functional and functional testing and coordinate flushing, cleaning, and testing activities.
• Support integrated systems testing and startup readiness reviews; troubleshoot interfaces and resolve issues.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior CSU engineers and coordinate with vendors and client.
• Coordinate OEM vendor startup activities and witness performance testing; ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure commissioning records are complete and handover to client operations with all punch items resolved.
