Description

The primary focus of this position is to effectively support volunteers (Bigs) OR families (Youth and their Caregivers) in all aspects of their mentoring experience in the Community Based program. The Community Based program matches youth with a caring adult mentor who they will meet with 2-4 times per month engaging in low-cost activities they are both interested in trying together. This position will call, email, text or meet in person with either the Big or the Little and their caregiver on a consistent basis to support in coaching, youth development principles, youth safety, and conflict management to ensure the relationship is safe, supportive, and intentional. This position spends the majority of their time in outreach and communication (primarily calls, email, and text) with their caseload.

BBBSTC is seeking adaptable and enthusiastic individuals dedicated to delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining meticulous documentation. Candidates should be available during evening and weekend hours. The role includes supporting and staffing BBBS program events throughout the year, scheduled in advance for planning purposes.

Job Details
  • Location: Remote with expectation to attend at least two BBBS program events in Minneapolis, MN
  • Hiring Salary Range: $22.50 - $24.00/hour. Starting rate depends on skills and readiness.
  • Hours per week: 10-20 hours, primarily evenings and weekends. Flexible scheduling.
  • Job Type: Variable Part Time, Non-Exempt
  • Supervisor: Manager of Volunteer Match Support or Manager of Family Match Support
Essential Job Functions
  1. Provide personalized support and case management to participants in the community-based mentoring program.
  2. Coordinate & facilitate virtual match introduction meetings between volunteers, youth, and families.
  3. Collaborate with other Match Support Coordinators to develop strategies for enhancing match relationships and engagement, including weekly meetings.
  4. Conduct monthly outreach via phone, email, text, and in person.
  5. Assess match relationship health during outreach, focusing on safety, development, and satisfaction, following BBBS standards.
  6. Document participant progress in the agency database promptly.
  7. Use technology for reporting, data analysis, and synthesis about participant and match experiences.
  8. Coach participants and implement interventions to resolve conflicts and barriers.
  9. Connect participants with staff, community resources, training, and referrals as needed.
  10. Contribute to the agency's mission and success.
  11. Adopt strengths-based perspectives, especially with marginalized groups.
  12. Handle data securely and privately.
  13. Stay informed on community needs and resources.
  14. Collaborate to meet goals in the annual business plan.
  15. Foster an inclusive environment respecting diversity.
  16. Represent BBBS positively in the community.
  17. Assist with agency events including recruitment, fundraising, and outreach.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field, or relevant experience in social work, counseling, child development, etc.
  • Within 6 months of completing a bachelor’s degree
  • Associate’s degree with 4 years relevant experience
  • No degree with 8 years relevant experience
  • At least 1 year in assessment writing, case management, or relationship development
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of youth development, family dynamics, trauma-informed care, and working with adult learners or families, depending on the role.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of mandated reporting guidelines.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • Goal-oriented with a commitment to quality.
  • Understanding of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred.
  • Availability for nights and weekends, willingness to schedule around participant needs.
Physical Requirements

Sitting for extended periods, with ability to extend hands or arms as needed.
