Job summary

HDC MidAtlantic in Fredericksburg, PA is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician I to keep affordable homes safe and welcoming.

You will perform day-to-day repairs, preventive maintenance, and respond to resident requests, with emphasis on safety, quality, and trauma-informed service.

The role requires a high school diploma, driver's license, and ability to manage multiple tasks; on-call rotation; and willingness to learn property management software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a valid driver’s license.
• Hands-on maintenance experience preferred; training or coursework in plumbing, carpentry, HVAC or related trade is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing operational needs.
• Required to follow on-call rotation.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication skills and a respectful, customer service-oriented approach with residents.
• Must be open to learning property management software and standard maintenance technology.
• Successful completion of drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a responsive, respectful point of contact for residents’ maintenance needs, delivering service aligned with core values.
• Communicate clearly with residents regarding unit entry, scheduling, and completion of work orders.
• Complete work orders promptly and efficiently (within 24 hours for emergency and 3 days for non-emergency).
• Address property maintenance issues, safety hazards, and equipment concerns.
• Coordinate with Community Manager and vendors to ensure quality and cost-effective operations.
