Job summary

The City of Covina is accepting applications for a part-time Maintenance Worker I in the Public Works Department. This entry-level role performs routine to semi-skilled maintenance tasks across streets, drainage, and related infrastructure.

Work involves operating equipment, observing safety practices, and assisting with sewer and street projects. Incumbents may be assigned to Streets, Hardscape/Special Projects, or Sewer Maintenance and may rotate as directed.

Qualifications

• Performs routine or semi-skilled maintenance work as part of a crew or solo.
• Observes safety methods and uses safety equipment as required.
• Follows Cal-OSHA and city safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform labor for construction/maintenance projects including asphalt, storm drain, sewer maintenance and landscaping.
• Operate street maintenance equipment and trucks; load/unload materials.
• Set up traffic safety devices and barricades per WATCH standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and inspect assigned tools and equipment.
• Complete daily reports and report deficiencies to supervision.
• Assist in sewer maintenance and related tasks as assigned.
