Job summary

City of Upland is hiring a Maintenance Worker I to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled grounds, facility, and utility maintenance tasks across city properties. The role supports water facilities, parks, streets, and public spaces, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and dependable service.

The position requires hands-on work, the ability to operate a range of tools and equipment, and a commitment to keeping the community’s infrastructure well maintained.

Qualifications

• One year experience working with concrete and/or asphalt.
• One year landscape maintenance experience.
• One year general maintenance experience (painting, graffiti removal, fence repair, custodial, sandblasting, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance duties in parks, facilities, and public spaces.
• Operates power grounds equipment and performs routine safety inspections.
• Maintains athletic fields and assist with event setup and teardown.
• Cleans restrooms, keeps facilities stocked, and handles waste and debris.
• Repairs fences, guard rails, signs, and performs minor carpentry and metal work.
• Performs concrete and asphalt repair, patching, and surface maintenance.
• Responds to emergencies and helps with road, water, and utility maintenance as needed.
• Ensures safe operation of equipment and compliance with safety regulations.
