Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in San Diego is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the NIMITZ, Point Loma site on a part-time schedule (20-34.5 hours per week). The role involves maintenance, upkeep, and repair of Navy Exchange and Navy Lodge facilities, with potential supervision by a higher-grade maintenance associate.

You will perform a wide range of tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and general building upkeep.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in general maintenance of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment.
• Specialized experience: three years in painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license or CDL; CDL with class B endorsement if operating a vehicle with a gross weight of at least 26,000 lbs; DOT physical and medical requirements; pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled by supervisor.
• Performs carpentry tasks involved in alteration, repair, or maintenance of buildings or equipment.
• Repairs doors, windows, office furniture; replaces screens and wire windows guards; builds and repairs cabinets and walls.
• Paints interior and exterior areas including walls, baseboards, shelves, and counters; prepares surfaces for painting.
• Uses hand and power tools; performs electrical and basic plumbing repairs; patches holes and maintains stock.
