Job summary

Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital in Springfield, OH is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time General Surgery role. The LPN will work closely with the PCP, review health records, measure vital signs, and prepare treatment rooms.

This position reports to the OVMG General Surgery Physician. The role includes assisting physicians during visits and procedures, documenting in EMR, coordinating pre/post-operative care, and ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active LPN license; must be in good standing.
• LPN experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Current BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for health care visits and assist during examinations.
• Obtain imaging, pathology, and report notes prior to appointments.
• Record vital signs and document in EMR; assist physician during visits.
• Assist with procedures in the surgical suite and post-operative care.
• Complete pre-operative paperwork and informed consent documentation.
• Review discharge instructions and schedule follow-ups.
• Educate patients on medications and diet, and provide counseling.
• Maintain sterile technique, handle supplies, and ensure equipment is ready.
