Job summary

The City of Chicopee is hiring a Part-Time Local Building Inspector to enforce the Massachusetts State Building Code and local ordinances. The position is Non-Exempt, UFCW 1459 Administration, 19 hours per week, with flexible schedule.

Pay range is $26.06 to $34.34 per hour. Certification per MGL 143 Section 3 is required to take the local inspector exams; valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are also needed. Apply online with the City HR.

Qualifications

• Must be certified per MGL 143 Section 3 to take the local inspector exams.
• Familiarity with personal computers and Microsoft Office.
• Basic filing skills and blueprint reading.
• Advanced math skills and basic writing skills.
• Must have a valid driver?s license and a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Enforce all provisions of 780CMR, 521 CMR and applicable statutes, rules, and bylaws.
• Issue permits for construction and inspect premises for compliance with codes.
• Schedule and perform on-site inspections and periodic inspections of businesses and institutions.
• Maintain records and provide courteous customer service in person, by phone, or by email.
