Job summary

Hollywood YMCA in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas, and to foster a safe and engaging environment for members.

Responsibilities include continuous scanning, enforcing safety rules, equipment checks, quick decision-making, emergency response, and maintaining records in line with YMCA policies. Minimum age 16 and lifeguard certifications are required; 1-2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• AGE: Minimum age of 16.
• MANDATORY CERTIFICATIONS: YMCA Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR certifications.
• RELATED EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years lifeguard experience preferred.
• SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Lifeguard skills meeting YMCA standards.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must meet physical requirements to perform water rescue.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous scanning of the pool and aquatic area.
• Enforce safety rules and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure safety equipment is available.
• Maintain records and complete required reports.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; uphold YMCA policies.
• Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character in all dealings with members and staff.
