Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles seeks a part-time Lifeguard at the Collins and Katz Family YMCA in Los Angeles, CA 90025. You will maintain safe swimming conditions, monitor activity, and enforce pool rules to ensure member safety and enjoyment.

The role requires continuous scanning, emergency readiness, and the ability to perform rescue and CPR as trained. You will follow YMCA safety standards, complete required reports, and participate in staff trainings while upholding the YMCA's core values.

Qualifications

• Current YMCA Lifeguarding, American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certifications required.
• Must be at least 16 years old and able to meet physical requirements for lifeguard duties.
• Provisional hire possible with plan to obtain certifications within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, uninterrupted scanning of pool and aquatic area.
• Enforce safety rules and YMCA policies; respond quickly to emergencies.
• Complete related reports and maintain records as required by YMCA and health codes.
• Demonstrate Six Pillars of Character and YMCA Core Values in all interactions.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; uphold safety, supervision, and risk management standards.
