Job summary

YMCA Cranberry Township is seeking a Lifeguard to monitor pool, deck, and surrounding areas during evenings and weekends. You will create a safe, engaging environment that supports member safety and YMCA programs.

The role requires current lifeguard certification (including deep water) with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, plus oxygen administration training within 30 days. You’ll work as part of a team in a community-focused nonprofit.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15; required.
• Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
• Lifeguard cert (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED/First Aid; required.
• Oxygen Administration certification within 30 days; required.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of pool areas.
• Review emergency procedures and respond immediately.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Apply safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic area.
• Keep accurate records as required by YMCA/Health Dept.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure proper equipment.
• Check pool for hazards on arrival.
• Conduct chemical testing at required times.
• Complete incident and accident reports as needed.
• Maintain professional conduct according to YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Maintain pool areas in terms of equipment, safety, and cleanliness.
• Follow YMCA policies including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
