Job summary

Butler YMCA in Butler, PA is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to ensure safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas. The role involves monitoring swimmers, enforcing rules, and supporting YMCA programs.

Qualified candidates will hold a Lifeguard certification (including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid) and Oxygen Administration certification within 30 days. Day and weekend shifts available.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid.
• Deep Water certification is required.
• Oxygen administration certification within 30 days of employment.
• Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
• Must maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool areas.
• Respond immediately to emergencies per YMCA procedures.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Apply safety rules and pool guidelines consistently.
• Keep accurate records as required by YMCA/Health Dept.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure availability.
• Check pool for hazards on arrival.
• Conduct routine chemical testing and take action as needed.
• Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Maintain professional conduct per YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Keep pool areas clean and well-maintained.
• Follow YMCA policies on medical, disciplinary, and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
