Job summary

The Clapp Memorial Library is seeking two part-time Library Technicians to assist with customer service and daily circulations tasks. Each position works about 12 hours per week and involves checking materials in/out, assisting patrons, and processing holds and notices.

Ideal candidates have high school education (or equivalent) with library exposure and strong communication skills. Training and support will be provided; applicants should be ready to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School education; two years of college work; library experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform circulation desk tasks: check in/out, renewals, and posting notices.
• Assist patrons with computers, catalogs, and reference sources; aid in locating information.
• Explain holds, interlibrary loans, and purchase requests; help with placing holds.
• In the absence of a supervisor, assist library pages and volunteers as needed.
• Shelve materials and keep the collection orderly; assist with opening/closing procedures.
