Job summary

The City of Newton is seeking a Part Time Library Assistant to deliver excellent customer service at service points, by phone, and online. You will handle item retrieval, data entry, holds, returns, and interlibrary loan requests in a busy public library.

Responsibilities expand to assisting users with computers, events, and program registrations while adhering to city policies. Bachelor's degree and related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and up to one year of related experience or training.
• Customer service experience and interest in public libraries.
• Knowledge of library databases and electronic resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at service points and via phone/email.
• Process returns, checkouts, renewals and holds; enter data.
• Assist with museum pass information, event and room registrations.
• Handle inter-library loan requests and item requests from patrons.
• Follow department and city policies and procedures.
