Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to perform routine and occasionally strenuous work.
• Must be fluent in using email and text messaging.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with library staff.
• Skill in minor repairs including carpentry and painting.
• Good physical condition with strength to lift 35 lbs and to climb ladders.
• Ability to read/speak English and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive and scheduled cleaning of bathrooms, garbage collection, vacuuming, sweeping, polishing, dusting, and window washing.
• Set up and teardown of meeting rooms and equipment as required.
• Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintain custodial supplies for bathrooms and general maintenance.
• Assist in various manual tasks such as delivering and transporting books.
• Inspect building mechanical systems and ensure safe operation.
• Open and close procedures; travel between library buildings as needed.
• Respond to weather events, including spreading de-icing material or shoveling as required.
• Communicate and work with other custodians; perform additional duties as assigned.
