Albany Public Library is seeking a friendly part-time Library Assistant (24 hours per week) to join our team. The role emphasizes customer service, attention to detail, and helping patrons both at the desk and behind the scenes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in library science, liberal arts, education, or related field and one year of library or customer service experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work at multiple library locations (Main and Carnegie) with travel between branches.
• Weekend and evening shifts required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with circulation-related functions, including issuing library cards and processing payments.
• Provide information services, readers advisory, and help with technology and databases.
• Assist with cataloging, processing, and classifying library materials.
• Support interlibrary loan operations and communicate with partner libraries.
