Job summary

Mathys+Potestio / The Creative Party® seeks a part-time Communications Specialist to develop engaging content for a university library system. You will craft stories, press materials, and digital content that highlight programs, services, and donor impact, targeting students, faculty, and the community.

This 20-hour weekly role focuses on copywriting, content strategy, interviews, and collaboration with library leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience writing press releases, feature stories, profiles, newsletters, blogs, and social media content.
• Excellent interviewing, storytelling, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to translate complex topics into clear content for multiple audiences.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and managing multiple assignments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud tools including OneDrive.

Responsibilities

• Develop and write internal and external communications that promote library programs, services, collections, events, and initiatives.
• Create various content: news stories, press releases, profiles, donor-focused stories, blogs, social media posts.
• Interview students, faculty, staff, donors, and stakeholders to gather quotes and testimonials.
• Transform expert information into polished, audience-focused content.
• Create narratives showing impact of library resources and donor support.
• Coordinate with audiences: students, faculty, donors and supporters.
• Collaborate with library leadership to execute communications strategies.
• Participate in marketing/PR meetings and coordinate across departments.
• Coordinate with institutional communications to distribute external content.
• Manage revisions and feedback ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Maintain consistent messaging and branding across channels.
