Job summary

Mathys+Potestio, LLC is seeking an experienced Part-Time Communications Specialist to support a university library system. This role focuses on copywriting, content creation, and communications strategy execution, approximately 20 hours per week.

You'll develop internal and external communications—news stories, press releases, profiles, blogs, and social posts—for students, faculty, donors, and the broader community; conduct interviews and transform expert information into engaging narratives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience writing press releases, feature stories, profiles, newsletters, blogs, and social media content.
• Excellent interviewing, storytelling, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging content for multiple audiences.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and managing multiple concurrent assignments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and cloud-based collaboration tools, including OneDrive.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal and external communications that promote library programs, services, collections, events, and initiatives.
• Create content, including news stories, press releases, profiles, blogs, and social media content.
• Conduct interviews with students, faculty, staff, donors, and other stakeholders.
• Transform information provided by subject matter experts into polished, audience-focused communications.
• Create narratives that demonstrate the impact of library resources and donor support.
• Collaborate with library leadership to execute ongoing communications strategies and priorities.
• Coordinate with institutional communications and marketing teams to develop and distribute external communications.
• Maintain consistency in messaging, voice, and branding across communication channels.
