Job summary

LA County Library in California is seeking a dedicated Library Associate to join our team on a temporary, part-time basis. The role focuses on processing materials, registering borrowers, and guiding patrons with library rules and services. You will operate computers and assist with shelving, deliveries, and special projects.

Applicants should have at least 3 months of direct customer service experience and be at least 18 years old. A flexible schedule with evening and weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Three (3) months of work experience providing direct customer service or public-facing services, either in person, by telephone, or through online platforms.
• Age: At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Process library materials for customers, including check-in and check-out procedures.
• Register new customers (borrowers) in accordance with established specialized protocols.
• Explain and enforce library policies and procedures.
• Provide information and answer questions from the public regarding library rules, including fines, fees, and material location, etc.
• Operate office equipment, including computers, and perform other incidental duties in a small office setting.
• Assist in shelving and moving materials.
• Prepare and process outgoing and incoming delivery shipments as vital, including packing and unpacking.
• Provide support for various tasks and special projects, as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
