Job summary

Holy Cross College's McKenna Library seeks a Library Access Services Specialist to provide front-line circulation desk coverage during assigned hours, supporting students, faculty, staff and other library users.

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the role involves managing book reserves, handling check-ins/outs/holds, maintaining shelves, and updating library website content to ensure smooth service and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in library services, including circulation or related functions, preferred.
• Familiarity with scholarly information sources and citation styles to support undergraduates, preferred.
• Ability to provide courteous, tactful and nonjudgmental service with strong communication skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to library systems, databases, and technology.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, work independently, and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Serve students, faculty, staff, and other library users across multiple library systems (Folio, Tipasa, InfoExpress, FiNDit).
• Maintain the reserve shelf and handle check-ins, check-outs, renewals and holds.
• Maintain orderly shelves and library collections.
• Participate in cross-training and stay current with library procedures and services.
• Support continuity across shifts by communicating with the next shift staff.
