Job summary

Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is seeking a Part-Time Lead for Centerpointe Dining Commons to help manage daily operations, lead staff on shifts, assign tasks, and ensure service quality, food safety, and sanitation.

You will train and coach employees, monitor service periods, handle guest concerns professionally, and collaborate with management on special projects. A flexible schedule is required.

Qualifications

• 6 or more months of job-related experience; previous food service experience required.
• Must have a current Food Handler certification or be able to obtain required certification.
• Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to provide direction to employees.
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Must be organized and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Must be dependable and demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Previous lead or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with schedules and assign daily work responsibilities to staff.
• Lead and oversee employees during assigned shifts and ensure tasks are completed.
• Train and coach staff on job duties, customer service, food safety, sanitation, and department procedures.
• Monitor service periods and adjust staff assignments based on operational needs.
• Conduct routine walk-throughs of the dining room, service stations, beverage areas, dish room, and other assigned areas.
• Ensure service areas are properly set up, stocked, maintained, and broken down.
• Monitor cleanliness and organization throughout the facility.
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, handling, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Monitor product and supply levels and communicate shortages or operational concerns.
• Assist with inventory organization and maintaining appropriate PAR levels.
• Assist with CaterTrax orders and required event documentation.
• Review and maintain daily checklists, cleaning schedules, training documents, and SOPs.
• Assist with training and onboarding new employees.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with resolving guest concerns.
• Serve as a point of contact for employees during assigned shifts.
• Communicate staffing, equipment, safety, sanitation, or operational concerns to management.
• Assist management with special projects and operational needs.
• Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY : Under the general supervision of Centerpointe Dining Commons Management, the Part-Time Lead is responsible for assisting with the daily operation of Centerpointe Dining Commons, including providing leadership and direction to staff, delegating work assignments, monitoring service areas, and ensuring customer service, food safety, sanitation, and operational standards are maintained. The Part-Time Lead will serve as a shift leader and support management with the overall flow and organization of the operation.
