Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer in Maplewood for a part-time role. You will decorate cakes ranging from everyday treats to wedding cakes, greet customers, take orders, and lead part-time teammates.

You’ll coordinate daily production, manage timelines, and ensure high standards in sanitation and presentation. You’ll work closely with the Bakery Manager and team to create memorable desserts and fabulous displays, while delivering friendly service and keeping up with current cake

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training provided.
Strong decorating skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, take orders at the bakery counter, and assist throughout the store.
Check orders, set up timelines and production schedules, and verify cake details.
Decorate bakery items and stay current on cake design trends.
Develop daily bakery orders for bakers, including cake sizes.
Track daily production and coordinate tasks with coworkers.
Order decorating supplies and manage deliveries to the decorating area.
Deliver wedding cakes and set up on site outside the store.
Communicate with the Bakery Manager about displays and special needs.
Lead part-time employees, supervise and cross-train staff.
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness in the work area.
