Job summary

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Frisco is seeking a Certified Lactation Consultant to provide expert lactation support within the Women’s Center. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to help breastfeeding mothers achieve their personal goals and optimize infant feeding outcomes.

The ideal candidate will hold an IBCLC certification, have strong interpersonal skills, and be proficient in developing evidence-based feeding plans for normal and complex cases.

Qualifications

• IBCLC certification or included in education plan.
• Minimum of 5 yrs experience in Women’s Services.
• Minimum of 3 yrs experience in Lactation Services (recommended).
• NRP required.
• BLS required.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledgeable JCAHO rules, regulations and standards.
• Ability to make independent sound nursing decisions.
• Demonstrates competence in customer/patient focus and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate lactation care to help breastfeeding mothers meet individual goals.
• Collaborate with Women’s Center team to develop feeding plans for normal and complex cases.
• Develop and revise education for staff and patients; assist with department policies and literature related to breastfeeding.
• Develop and revise charting systems for documentation and progress notes.
• Support future lactation department services such as telephone support, outpatient clinics, and employee lactation programs.
• Monitor and analyze statistics to assess effectiveness of IBCLC services.
