Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA is hiring a part-time Lactation Consultant for the Family Birthplace. The role involves day shifts, three 6-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend rotation.

The Lactation Consultant will provide evidence-based care and education to breastfeeding families and collaborate with the care team. IBCLC certification within 2 years of hire is required, along with RN license or PA license.

Qualifications

• Registered nursing license required OR Physician Assistant license
• IBCLC within 2 years of hire (Required)
• NRP within 6 months of hire (required)
• BLS within 90 days of hire (required)
• 2 years of acute care RN experience in Women’s health preferred
• 1 year of acute care nursing or PA experience, required
• Labor and Delivery experience preferred
• Mother Baby experience preferred
• 1 year lactation experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support and education to breastfeeding women and families.
• Coordinate with care team to meet lactation practice standards and ensure patient safety.
• Educate healthcare staff on lactation best practices and documentation.

Education

Registered Nursing degree or diploma

BSN or MSN preferred

Nurse Practitioner level degree
